Aayush Visaria, MD, MPH
Founder and CEO of APSEA
American Preventive Screening and Education Association (APSEA) was founded in 2014 by Dr. Aayush Visaria while he was an undergraduate student at Rutgers University - New Brunswick.
APSEA was created on the premise that eliminating hypertension and diabetes in the community depends not just on clinical care, but also on community-based screenings that emphasize early detection, education, and lifestyle interventions.
Dr. Visaria observed that many adults had persistently high blood pressure without realizing it, as they showed no obvious symptoms.
This is why hypertension is often called the “silent killer”—most individuals only learn they have it after experiencing a serious cardiovascular event such as a stroke, heart attack, or heart failure, or complications like vision loss, kidney failure, and organ damage. APSEA was established to prevent these outcomes long before they happen.
Over time, we expanded our services to include blood glucose and body composition screenings, recognizing that diabetes and obesity are widespread conditions that can often be prevented through proper education.
To date, APSEA has conducted more than 500 screenings, trained over 2,000 volunteers, and accumulated more than 10,000 volunteer hours. Most importantly, our free, ongoing screenings have increased health awareness in local communities and have helped hundreds of people identify their risks for hypertension and diabetes.
